Show us your Escanciador (Spanish Sidra Throwing) Competition

  • ERIS Brewery & Cider House 4240 West Irving Park Road Chicago, IL, 60641 United States (map)

Throughout the Spanish cider regions Sidra is served by raising the bottle over your head and pouring into the glass held at your waist. The pourer looks blankly forward, not at the bottle or at the glass. It is poured this way to allow air bubbles into the drink, and generally a few drops are spilt on the floor in the process. Check it out!

As part of Chicago Cider Week, Eris is hosting Chicago’s second Escanciar competition on Feb 1st at 8pm. Three people will be selected to compete at the finals during Cider Summit Chicago on February 4 at Navy Pier.
